Honda CR-V Windshield Lawsuits

The Honda CR-V has received numerous complaints and legal proceedings regarding the structural defect in the windshield. According to a court document, many Honda CR-V owners have posted their complaints online. The lawsuit argues that the defect poses a significant safety risk and is costly to repair. To date, Honda has yet to offer a reliable solution to the defect and has failed to provide a viable replacement for the affected windshields.

CR-V passenger cabins smell of gasoline

The passenger cabins of Honda CR-V vehicles may smell like gasoline for several reasons. The burning smell is often the result of an oil leak. The dripping oil is landing on the exhaust system, where it can ignite and create an unpleasant smell. The exhaust surface temperature can rise to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. The burning odor can also be caused by smoke that rises from the engine compartment. To determine the exact source of the smell, look underneath the hood. The oil pan is also a source of this problem.

If you squeeze the last half gallon of gas from the tank, you will likely smell gas until you get your car filled up. If you do not fill your tank, fuel pressure regulators can let too much fuel into the fuel rails, throwing the air/fuel mixture off. Fortunately, this issue can be easily remedied by replacing the air filter. If you are experiencing a gasoline smell in the cabin of your CR-V, you should consult a professional mechanic to get the problem fixed.

Heat does not work properly in cold temperatures

Many Honda CR-V owners are reporting problems with their vehicle’s heating system. Those drivers have complained to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and to Honda itself. Despite Honda’s efforts to remedy this issue, consumers are still not satisfied. The automaker has yet to recall any affected vehicles. Until then, consumers should take advantage of a free product recall.

If you own a Honda CR-V and have experienced problems with the windscreen, you are not alone. Many consumers are filing lawsuits over the problem, as well. Honda tried to fix the problem through a “Product Update and Warranty Extension campaign” in November 2018. However, this did not solve the problem completely and the manufacturer suggested that owners seek other solutions.

The first lawsuit arising from the defect was filed in Illinois district court on October 25, 2011. The plaintiff said that the windshield’s structural crack made it unsafe to drive. The plaintiff’s attorney, Timothy P. Kingsbury of Chicago’s McGuire Law firm, noted that the manufacturer knew of the problem but refused to repair the windscreen. The defect was so severe that the company cited the manufacturer’s warranty administrator as the reason for the delay in fixing the windshield.

Drivers are steered out of their lanes by Honda Sensing

Besides keeping drivers in their lanes, Honda Sensing can also help the vehicle avoid collisions. Its Collision Mitigation Braking System detects the risk of an unavoidable collision and applies brakes if the driver does not react. While these systems are not meant to take the driver’s responsibility away, they do provide a layer of safety that cannot be overlooked.

The Road Departure Mitigation feature is another feature of the Honda Sensing system. It can prevent cars from drifting close to the sides of the road by causing rapid vibrations. This prevents single-car collisions. Sideswiping accidents are caused by failure to check blind spots when merging and drifting into the opposite lane while driving distracted. Honda Sensing has been designed to reduce the risk of side-swiping accidents by directing drivers into their lane at a safe speed.

Honda Sensing is a driver assistance suite that is available on all Honda vehicles. It includes Collision Mitigation Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control. These systems are designed to help drivers drive more safely and more confidently. Honda Sensing has helped reduce the risk of collisions by more than 80%.

Honda did not offer a reliable solution

According to the suit, Honda has not offered a good solution for this defect. The windshield cracked after the car was driven for several months. The crack was not caused by an external impact but by the stress of the defect, and the vehicle’s speed suddenly changed without warning. The lawsuit claims that the windshield cracked because of faulty materials. It was brought to the dealership by the plaintiff, who brought pictures of the cracked windshield to the warranty administrator. However, the parts and service manager refused to accept the warranty claim and refused to perform the repair.

The company said it learned about the problem in early 2017, but had no reliable solution for owners. The dealership suggested free oil changes for a while, which did not fix the problem. Witzig said he had to trade in his car and take a $7,000 loss. The company’s response was not sufficient to address his complaint. A complaint filed with the NHTSA showed that Honda did not provide a reliable solution for Honda CR-V windshield lawsuits
